Warm Up and Drills (1100 yds)

 

  • 1 x 400 – Choice
  • 4 x 100 Drill w/ :15s rest
    25 UNCO Left arm stroke
    25 UNCO Right arm stroke
    25 Fashion Model on back
    25 Backstroke
  • TWO ROUNDS Breaststroke Drills (300 yds)
    Vertical Kick – 4 x (20s Free + 20s Egg Beater + 20s rest)
    1 x 50 – Breaststroke pull w/ free kick
    1 x 50 – One Pull + One dolphin kick + One breaststroke kick
    1 x 50 – All 4s – Four pulls + 4 kicks + 4 full strokes

Main Set (2200  yds)

 

  • EN-1: 8 x 50 on 1:10
    2-Turn Breaststroke or Fly from middle of the pool
    Tips: 2 HAND TOUCH, Drive knees up, Elbow brother, Call mother, Eyes Up
  • EN-2 – Keep the clock moving! : )

Breaststroke kick should be done with knees fairly close together. Placing a stretch band just above the knees puts you legs in the correct position to kick. The bucket scull is shown in the featured image.

Day one of breaststroke review. Drills are for kicking and pulling separately. Two kicks one pull combines kick and pull. For the kick, make sure heels come to butt. Ankles flex and toes are turned out. Finish with pointed toes.

This backstroke workout focuses on the pull. When doing the lane line drill. One hand is grabbing onto the lane line and hoisting your body by. The other hand is holding a ball and throwing it overhand to mimic the backstroke pull.

Backstroke lessons continue. Fashion model drill focusses on rotating from side to side using your hips. Step 1 is coordinating the hip rotation with the kick. Step 2 is coordinating the kick, hip rotation and pull.
